Cloud transcription tools keep a copy of your interviews on their servers — a copy someone else controls. Recall has no servers. The only copy of an interview is the one on your phone, and we never receive your audio, transcripts, or anything else.
After the one-time model download, everything — recording, Whisper transcription, summaries, search — runs with the radios off. Basement pressroom, courthouse hallway, a trip where you'd rather not touch a network: your phone is the whole system.
The quote you half-remember from a February interview is one search away. Full-text search spans every recording in your library, and you can ask questions across your interviews and get answers drawn from the transcripts.
Name a voice once and Recall recognizes it in later recordings, so a recurring source's interviews stay attributed and connected. Voice profiles are created and stored only on your phone — like everything else in the app.
Recall's architecture is simple: nothing reaches us. No audio, no transcripts, no metadata, no account tying a device to a person — so there is no server copy for anyone to request from us. What's on your phone sits in the app's private storage, encrypted at rest by the operating system, behind your passcode.
Be clear-eyed about the rest: your device itself can still be lost, seized, or searched, so use a strong passcode and your usual operational-security practices.
